My Reviews
Not really a book I would recommend to book clubs unless they are into American West history. But an excellent book nonetheless.
I had previously read Beryl Markham's West With the Night so I wasn't sure if I would like this fictional rendering of her life, but I truly enjoyed it. I listened to it on Playaway and the narrator's presentation was outstanding. The author's descriptions of the landscape, animals, people brought them alive.
My book club enjoyed this book, probably more than I did. I did find the descriptions of what they did to survive in the wilderness interesting. I also appreciated the moral premises.
For some reason the Little House on the Prairie series wasn't part of the curriculum at my grade school so I am reading them now. They should be required reading for every child growing up in the USA.
