My Reviews

Brilliant, Boring, Epic

This was one of the few books that I could not convince myself to finish. I dreaded each time I picked up the book. I kept hoping it would get better but by the halfway point, I just couldn't make myself continue reading. Two out of our 8 book club members did not finish the book.

Just ok

The first book was better than it's sequel.

The Girls of Mischief

Fun, multigenerational book for clubs to read. Great ages-stages read with plenty to discuss at your book club meeting.

Silly, ridiculous, sexy…Did I say ridiculous??

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to read Janet Evanovich’s newest addition to the Wicked series. In this third installment, Lizzie and Diesel search for another SALIGA stone, The Stone of Avarice. The same zany cast of characters is back again to “help” solve the mystery. The basic outline of the characters continue to parallel those in her Stephanie Plum series enough to make me wonder if we will later learn that Stephanie has been dreaming this whole storyline. (i.e. Stephanie:Lizzie, Morelli:Deisel, Ranger:Wulf, Clara:Connie, Lula:Glo, Grandma:Grandpa, Cat=Rex, etc.)
Although I did like the book, I will say it was my least favorite in the Wicked series. The story line was just too far-fetched. Instead of being funny, I found the story line to be silly. I did like the increase in heat between Diesel and Lizzie and think some heat will be coming from Wulf in the next book. Just hoping Mrs. Evanovich doesn’t make so wait so long next time.

The Guest Cottage

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was an enjoyable, atypical, falling- in- love story about two people who have set out on a getaway to rebuild their lives. Sophie has just found out that her husband has been having an affair and is considering divorcing her. Trevor has recently become a widow and is dealing with his young son’s emotional response to her death. It is obvious from the start that Sophie and Trevor will end up falling in love, but the story that Nancy Thayer weaves takes the reader on an enjoyable vacation with the Sophie Anderson and Trevor Black to the island of Nantucket where they have each, unbeknownst to each other rented the same cottage.
The Guest Cottage was my first Nancy Thayer book, but will not be the last!
