My Reviews
Put off reading this book due the size, it was very intimidating. I ready it because someone in my book club chose it and once I started it I found myself stealing every moment I could to read it...real page turner!
With a mother suffering dementia and possible Alzheimers at the young age of 67, I put off reading this book because I was afraid of what I would find.
I think the book is well written with a good central character that you can relate to. The author seems to have done quite a bit of research on the subject.
Reading this book has made me much more sympathetic and understanding of what my mother is going through.
This was our January book club pick, very appropriate to read on some of snowy NorthEast days this winter. It was a cute quick read with lots of good discussions...some interesting characters and situations...a feel good book. Perfect match for a cup of tea!
I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the sequel but didn't like to be left hanging for the ending.
While most of the women in my book group enjoyed this book, I got bored very quickly. To many boring characters and flip flopping back and forth to location and time. I really was interested to see what happened next and didn't bother to finish it.
My first book club pick. I felt it was beautifully written, enchanting. I can't wait to see if the movie does this book justice!
I really enjoyed reading about the amazing life of Jeannette Walls grandmother. Definately an interesting view into life in the Southwest, especially coming from the Northeast where the history we know of is quite different.
Maybe a nice beach read. Fun to read and laughed at some of the antics of ths school girls ~~ brought back some fun memories. It was fun to talk about all our school girl crushed and the things we did at our book club meeting.
