My Reviews
I loved this book and have recommended it to many. It is the story of two different generations of Afghani women and the struggles they face. I could not put it down.
I loved this novel from the very first page.
It is the story of a cantankerous but loveable old gentleman who is hell bent on committing suicide but life and living keeps getting in the way. It is funny and sad and poignant all rolled into one. Rigid, set in his ways and inflexible are all words to describe Ove, but you will still love him and I will bet you laugh out loud at least once before the book is finished.
What a wonderful look at a man who at first glance seems to be bitter, outspoken and sometimes mean. Don't judge a book by its cover. This opens up to a wonderful heartfelt story. You will laugh and you will cry. A great read. The littlest details are all there for a purpose and tie the story together beautifully. Everyone in our club loved it and we had a very7 very lively discussion.
I started this book on a Saturday afternoon and became so engrossed that I did not put it down until the wee hours of the morning when I finished it!
Twists and turns galore!
