My Reviews
I had a hard time getting into this book and finishing it. Although there were some places that did get my interest for a short while, mostly I sort of kept saying "so what"
I was so disappointed. After all the hype about this book, I was really excited to start it. Wow! What a letdown. I thought it was just me but my friend agreed totally. The book never drew me in and I had a hard time convincing myself to finish it - I kept hoping I would come across whatever had caused all the accolades. Just didn't happen.
I could not finish this book. I didn't like the story, I couldn't care a less about any of the characters - it was totally boring. I forced myself to get about half way through and it never got any better. My friend again totally agrees with me. She has tried many times to continue reading it, but has yet to finish.
I had a hard time getting into this book at the beginning. However I found that about half way through the book, I quite liked it and it held my interest. And it continued to get more interesting till the very end.
To be honest - there was not much new to be learned from the book. We have all heard the stories in bits and pieces. However to have the information given to us in a complete story form made all we have learned and heard about life in the middle east all come together. My friends and I spent a lot of time discussing the book.
It is written in a style that you think someone is sitting in your living room telling you the story. I found the story to be totally inspiring. I loved the glimpses into the world of life in Nepal. My friends and I have recommended the book to everyone we know who likes to read.
