My Reviews
Made me think. What would i do if I were the parent? How would I feel if I were either of the children involved?
What an eye opener. Thought I had read a lot about alzheimers, but this book takes it out of the clinical and places it in every day life. Gave me lots more understanding for my neices who placed their dad in a home where he can be monitored and his condition understood by a caring staff.
as an historic novel (that's what I'd call it), I found it informative. Lots of discussion in our group, though the average rating was 6-7.
Read the book in a day. If it had been my personal copy, I would have underscored any number of sentences--things I would want to go back and re-read, type up and keep out in the open so I could again "feel". Ruth's friends were real, ones I hope surround me when I'm in my last days. Must add that there were a few times the pages seemed like a soap opera, but the greater part of the book was very meaningful and thought provoking.
Am half way through this book. Suggesting it to our Book Group to consider for one of our reads for next year
