My Reviews
Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond
Great book talking about why some peoples succeed
I really enjoyed this book. Put many facts in new light, showing how luck of resources are so important to the rise of some communities over others. I'd love to discuss.
The Thirteenth Tale: A Novel by Diane Setterfield
Dramatic, Interesting, Dark
good book in the dark, gothic traditionI liked this book very much. Loved the style and surprises. I felt the novelist wove an intriging plot and mystery into a style that was not overwrought, despite dark themes. My club didnt like it as much as me, bringing up criticisms that the main character was not particularily imaginitive and was somewhat contrived. Worth a read in my opinion.
