My Reviews
I found the characters compelling. Through the two main characters of the book you get a full sensory view of life in Germany and France during the war. The author brings all of the characters to life by making you feel like you are with them with their inner struggles and how they see things.
Carolyn took us with her on her journey to find that Jesus and God are who they say they are. Her use of language draws you in and allows you to feel what she experiences. Although it is a memoir, it reads like a novel. I was inspired by her transformation and yet it was so down to earth and real that I knew that anyone could have those same honest feelings. Only negative: we wanted to know more about the TDH relationship. Would have been lovely to experience her rebirth and meeting and falling in love with the man she would marry.
