My Reviews
The book goes back and forth over a year period to uncover the major characters personality and motives. A person is missing and figuring out what happened gives an alcoholic woman purpose in her life. The peek into an alcoholics life and blackouts was chilling.
The book was expertly written about being a teen boy and growing up during middle/high school. The descriptive language of childhood friends and adventures was spot on. All kids are subject to things parents are unaware and this book reminded me as a mother I have to trust my boys with life. It was a great book. My review is not touching on the story line so trust me, the story weaves older childhood experiences with the story line very well.
Story line was great, I love stories that parallel two lives. Learned about asylums in the early 1900s, it was disturbing but very interesting. Found the writing gave away too much and simplistically tried to tackle too many themes.
