My Reviews
I love this book. I read it 20 years ago when it first came out and we just re read it for book club. It was just as fun and exciting. The characters are colorful, the story is fascinating and it is well written. It makes me want to visit Savannah! I love the fact that this book was found in the sociology section of the book store.
Thought provoking. What would you do for love vs what you do on a moral level...
This was such a good book club choice. It's interesting that this is based on a true unsolved story. This is written from 3 different women's perspectives and a little bit of the story is told, then they back pedal and fill in the story, then you move forward, then go back...and you hit twists and turns along the way. Very plausible theory.
I could not relate to any character nor find anyone likeable. These were terrible people and the main narrator was annoying the way he told the story.
I loved that this was based on a true event from the 1930s. The author makes a plausible theory on what could have happened. I liked the 3 strong women character and it was fun to discuss women's roles and how they have and have not changed since 1930.
I absolutely loved this book. I can't wait to discuss it with my book club this month. There are so many twists and directions. There are many themes good by on at once. There is so much depth to each of the characters. I didn't want this book to end. I want o keep reading about everyone. I related to so many of the characters and I really liked everyone.
I loved this book! Evelyn was a such a strong, powerful character, even though she was a woman in male dominated old Hollywood. She was flawed, but you still had to love her. She lived unapologetically. You rooted for her. Her character was so well developed. There was so much dimension to this book. I never guessed the twist at the end.
