My Reviews
We had some good discussions about relationships - it's a simple book that most people were able to take something from and discuss.
Not our liveliest discussion, but still good.
This book stays with you. One of the most memorable books I have ever read. I admire Ayaan - who couldn't? She is one of the strongest women I have ever read about - fiction and non-fiction combined.
I was never really drawn into the book - and I read it during the time of my miscarriage. I couldn't really connect with the people in the story - they seemed a little extreme. It's not a book I would automatically recommend to everyone.
I read this outside my book club. It was fabulous on it's own. I'm not sure, however, how much discussion it would prompt. It's an easy, fast read - perfect for reading during the holiday rush, but I can't say how much discussion it would induce.
I almost hate giving it only 3 stars, because it deserves more than that - but as a book club book....I just don't know.
I have NEVER liked anything by Steinbeck....until I read East of Eden. It's one of my all time favorites. Beautifully written - well worth the read!
A few women felt it got a little slow in the middle, others devoured it. We had a wonderful discussion based off of the questions from the author's web site. Beautiful writing style! Great book to read.
This book offered compelling conversation about world politics (in most cases, how little we know) and the effects war has on the people of a country.
A quick read, this true story is beautiful and hopeful. It makes you want to go out there and make a difference in the world.
Great story - it really helps to be a fan of the BBC Pride and Prejudice, or at least watch it before you read.
