My Reviews
A story about Lillian coming to America from Russia in the 20's after her family was massacured. Then returning to try and find her 4 year old daughter Sophie whom she is told is alive by her cousin Rasile.
This is one of my favorite all time books - I can't wait for the movie to come out - I just hope they stay true to this book. Any dog lover would laugh and cry at all of Marley "tails". Any pet deprived person would appreciate the real story of the Grogan family. This book can really show you what a pet can offer to you and your family if you are just willing to look past the messes, destruction and sometime embarrasment.
I really didn't care for this book at all, I think my expectations my have been set to high with all the hype I've heard about this book. I couldn't relate to a women that could travel the world for a year with little responsibilities. No husband, no kids, no mortgage -lets face it most people do not have the opportunity to make that choice. All the "trappings" of modern American success is what most people want and what at this point in time are trying desperatly to keep! And I can gaurentee you that she did not need the care of premature newborn triplets.
This book was awesome! I had no idea what to expect when I read it and boy did I learn alot! I really enjoyed this book and now consider it one of my all time favorites. I learned so much about court and the time period. I would recommend this book to anyone. I also saw the movie, and as always the book is sooooo much better than the movie!
This book lead to a great discussion, we all did our own lists and tried to guess who's was who's. It was alot of fun and we got to know each other a little better and we we're all surprised to find out that we had alot of the same things on our lists! It was a fun read.
I really liked the book and it lead to a great discussion. One of the best things discussed was about why is it wrong for Olive to be who she was? She wasn't a lovely dovey person, but is that wrong? Ended to soon.
While it was a little slow I felt it was a really good read and made for an interesting discussion
This book just wasn't for me, I found the descripitve food analogies annoying after awhile. I don't need to be told 47 times that someone has an "orange juice" voice. But I suppose that may have been the point of what an Asperger's mind is like. Like I said, just not for me.
I liked this book, even though it was fiction I found it informative about the Yellow Fever epidemic in Philadelphia in 1793. It was neat to read and see how medicine developed over the course of time. It was a great juvenile read.
This book lead to a really great discussion. Our members saw this book so differently! Some took it at face value, others saw the bigger problems and some saw flaws with the main characters and their relationship. While our "hero" is no longer a "hero" it still brought to light many problems that need to be fixed within our systems.
To many characters for sucj a short book, hard to follow.
A very hard book to read and follow. Characters are unlikeable and unrelatable
You can really see this events happening to someone! So sad, and like Minka said in the book, it\\\'s still happening today!
Annoying read with little research
