My Reviews
Excellent! Very descriptive and "real"! I loved the characters!
Okay. I don't think it was Sue Miller's best book. The ending was controversial.
Excellent! Highly recommend!
Twilight was not necessarily a book I would have chosen personally, but I enjoyed it. Definitely different, but story line made me want to read the rest of the series.
Thought-provoking, well-written novel that centers on family and how life events can impact family.
Quick, easy read. Ideal for summer at the beach!
Wonderfully written book with endearing characters. You will fall in love with the dog's and their personalities. Beautifully descriptive and captivating.
Excellent! Loved the method of written letters, a dying art, to illustrate characters in this depiction of life during and after WWII....the agonies endured but yet the humor amidst the hardships of life. Actually made me laugh and cry!
Beautifully written novel about Olive, an abrasive yet compelling character. Funny at times with her quick responses, delightfully poignant, Olive is a complex person.
Having read many of DBF's novels, I was extremely disappointed in Return to Sullivan's Island!
This was a fluff book.....not in Frank's usually eloquent style. Maybe a beach read, but nothing more. Dottie can do better!
Insightful novel into the life of Frank Lloyd Wright and his lover, Mamah. Thought-provoking, challenging insights into the genius of FLW and his love for Mamah. Their controversial lives provoke much discussion and questions.
Beautifully written, The Book Thief takes the reader to the time before and during WWII and lets us see the devastating effects of the war through the eyes of Death. The reader sees war and its effects on the children, their families and loved ones. It was a unique perspective and kept me wanting to turn the page. This was eloquently written and is worth reading again!
Having grown up in the South in the '60's, I could totally relate to this terrific first novel.
Thought-provoking, funny and poignant, The Help was an accurate look at life in the South through the eyes of "The Help".
Wonderfully written....Conroy's love letter to Charleston. Characters are rich and memorable.
One of his best!
I thought the author did an excellent job portraying the different characters and then, interweaving their story.
3 children reared almost by themselves....their struggles for basic survival, parents with their own agendas, constant moving.....and how they managed. Will tug at your heart, especially if you're a parent.
Loved the character, Major Pettigrew. Charming figure clinging to tradational ways....only to fall in love!
Resilient, resourceful heroine.
Insightful guide....interesting characters.
Life in the eyes of a child whose abducted mother gave birth to him, and subsequently reared him, during their years of captivity.
