My Reviews
A pleasant departure from our usual book club selections. I found this book to be insightful and beautifully written. It changed my perspective of the recent events of the ever changing and confusing middle eastern politics. It told a story not usually covered by western news agencies. Very interesting read.
A quick read,a nice diversion from our typical book club selections. Some plot problems but this was authors first. Subsequent books may be better. I never knew there was such a tea culture. Love stories about Charleston.
Could not put it down
Having grown up in the rust belt myself, I identified with the plight of the characters in the story. I found the beginning and middle of the book somewhat repetitive. However, I believe the author's purpose was to shine a light on this unique population, not to write a great piece of literature. I have and will continue to recommend it to others.
Beautiful story of forgiveness in light of tangled relationships, small town prejudices and tragic losses. Flawed characters and flawed perceptions abound but it is still insightful? and inspirational.
Book was hard to follow
Overuse/misuse use of pronouns made reading difficult
Introduced characters that really did not serve the plot
Flipped back and forth between reality and fantasy which resulted in confusion and frustration
Totally unsatisfying ending
Found it hard to identify with the main character but I did gain some insight into anorexia. would have liked author to explore Anna's relationship with the married man a little more.Plot timing was a little slow but ended on a hopeful note. Quick read.
