Water for Elephants: A Novel by Sara Gruen
Adventurous, Dramatic, Interesting
a story about the life of a man who survived the depression by working in a circus and is now remembering the impact it had on his life - the most meaningful partThe literary technique of past and present was very effective in presenting this story. The research the author provided for the background of the life in a circus during the depression was impressive. It was sad in a way in that at 93, his life in the circus was the most meaningful part of his memory. The time that seemed to be the biggest struggle -maybe the time that he learned and grew the most.
