My Reviews
One of the best books I have ever read. A reminder of the absolute horror, persecution and suffering the Jews and those that tried to help them endured during the war. Mans inhumanity to man is inconceivable.
It was so interesting to see the other side of the art world and how the author developed the characters. Even though a work of fiction, the main focus was based on an actual event made it even more intriguing. It makes me want to visit the Isabella Gardner Museum and look for the empty frames of the stolen works of art.
The book was as much about Henrietta’s daughter Deborah as it was about Henrietta herself. The author became a part of the story which was 10 years in the making and spanned two lifetimes.
What a fascinating idea of knowing exactly how long our life will be. Would that change how we live? If we only knew…There must be a good reason why God has chosen not to tell us. It is interesting to think about how we might live differently if we only knew. I’m thankful I don’t know.
