My Reviews
Written in the 1980's this book is still relevant today about a young girl finding her identity and place in the world. Deals with the subjects of child abuse, immigration, survival, womanhood, motherhood and friendship - great for book clubs!
This book reminds us of the human side of immigration while introducing the reader to interesting, complex characters and situations. It is a quick read and our book club had a very insightful discussion over it.
Our book club members liked this one. Lots of twists in the end to talk about so it makes for a good discussion book.
I found this book to be a light, entertaining read and that's what our book club was looking for over the summer. The characters were somewhat comical but also real in their desire for family harmony and love and happiness. Most all of our members enjoyed it!
