My Reviews
Was an easy-reading book. Took me back to my teenage years, both by the story and also by the familiar style of Judy Blume as I remember from reading "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" and "Deenie". Fun book to read on the beach!!
I kept waiting for the sotry to start...... It was slow and boring.
There is a lot of symbolism in this book so from that perspective it's good to talk about. But it's a bit depressing; if this were ever to become our reality then we all better take a crash survival course. The style of writing was very unique, yet some of the vocabulary would make even those 1600 SAT'ers ask "what does that mean?"
I really liked this book. It gave me a glimpse into the harsh world of the Court during the period of the monarchs, and I learned a lot about the times of Henry VIII.
If you understand anything about dogs, this book will haunt you. The book does have a lot of inconsistencies in that it brings up a topic and then goes nowhere with it, but the journey in reading the story engulfed me and kept me up at night. He really captured the inner emotions of a dog's view of his master. This irked some people in my book club but I think he hit the nail on the head.
This had the potential to be a good book. But it's impossible to follow, the segues between characters were almost non-existent, and there was basically no plot. It's like the author vomited all over the page and just let the information fall where it lay. It should have been called Chaos in a Suitcase. At least that would have been more fitting.
