My Reviews
This is a dark story, but thankfully with a happy ending. Our club received this book in a book giveaway. We probably would have not chosen this book otherwise. A couple of our members has trouble getting through the first part which accounts Sanford's years of abuse and the murders of several boys. One member could not even begin to read this mostly due to the fact she has 2 boys the ages of the boys in this story. I have read other true life murder type novels and it was not as well written as others I have read. Many in our book club stated that once the trial began the book just seemed to hurry up and end and many details seemed to be missing and could have added to the completeness of the story.
We were all pleased with the happy ending and were grateful a boy that suffered such evil and tragedy could go on the lead a fairly healthy and normal life. We also noted that Sanford's wife was the angel he always deserved.
This is a dark subject matter, but the book portrays the story without being overly graphic.
I would reccommend this book, with caution, to my friends, co-workers and family.
At the end of the book I was glad I read it but it was a long and tedious process, many parts were predictable.
