Great book for discussion!
I give it a B+
Not bad, gives you yet another perspective of King Henry's life. Lady Jane is rarely talked about even though she was the "Nine Days Queen" prior to Mary I and after Edwards Death.
A little too long, The book should have been written shorter. Overall C+

I actually started my Historical Fiction love affair with this book. You should have some previous knowledge of Henry and anne before understanding Lady Rochford. But, once you get into it, you do! Overall I give it an A

Burdett has a unique style of story-telling. He really entices the reader and takes them into the heart of Bangkok. Great for the imagination. Interesting take of government, politics, people and prostitution. B-
Josephine Bonaparte becomes a fascinating character in history once she entices the interest of Napoleon. Prior to that, there's just politics, war, moving etc. This is the first in the series of Gulland's books. Not the most interested at that. D
Fascinating. Hard to follow, but a must Read for sure. Makes you think, second guess and sulk. Moments of sanity and insanity. Highly recommended. Just, get through the boring chapters and keep going, it's still worth it in the end. A-
The three points of view Gregory choose were melodramatic. The character, Lord of Shrewsberry, couldn't possibly have been any duller. Bess of Hardwick could have been more firey.
And, although this book was written for people to admire and understand Queen Mary of Scotts, I found her appaling. I thought her a very selfish, arrogant, impatient queen.
Not bad. Boring at times. but you learned a lot more about who she was.
Had a modern way of making you feel one with the past. A true love story, no bullshit, just realism at it's best :) B+
David Ball is an amazing writer. Very detailed, graphic and touching. They should make a movie out of this novel.
