My Reviews
Beautiful detail of the inter thoughts of a young woman, yet the book was slow in story line and built too quickly at the end to be completely convincing. Many plot holes were left at the end.
Three words to describe book: interesting, informative, and a bit graphic.
The book was slow, unconvincing, yet interesting in that it captured a culture that isn’t my own.
My three words for the book: poorly written, unconvincing, and slow. I was expecting a lot more and the main character only made made me want to put down the book and never pick it up again.
The book was interesting and well written, but not as good as her other novel “The Nightingale.” I felt like it could have gone deeper on the subject of the Vietnam War” and day to day life in Alaska in the late 1970s.
My three words to describe this book were: unconvincing, poorly written, and ultimately pointless. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. It was a memoir sold as a self-help book, but with no feel of authenticity. Rachel had no research to back up her arguments and little information to help people improve their lives.
Fast read, but Unconvincing and not realistic.
Unconvincing, dark, and a bit dramatic.
Multidimensional book on how parents shape their children for the better and worse. Highly recommend.
Boring, unconvincing, and poorly written.
Thought provoking and insightfully written! I couldn’t get parts of this book out of my thoughts.
This was a light read. Not very inspiring or interesting.
Well written, yet slow to start and predictable throughout.
Maybe it’s a good thing that the topics explored in this book are no longer new, but widely discussed. Unfortunately, it doesn’t cover any concrete strategies for using our knowledge of biases to improve the way we move through the world.
Well written escape into history not often explored by writers.
Couldn’t finish. It was poorly written and wish it had actually used the writings of the saint.
Good book for interesting discussion. Not the author’s best book but still a worthwhile read.
