This book was more complex than it first come across. There are a lot of layers to it that I think come out on subsequent readings. You don't always like the main character, but you are always rooting for her. She reminds you of the darkest parts of yourself. I also think the book handled mental illness in a very nuanced way, although I will not that I think it could have approached domestic violence more thoughtfully. Overall, I would definitely recommend.
