My Reviews
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Alexie Sherman
Insightful, Interesting, Informative
The characters come alive so effortlessly! The descriptions of the characters are sparse but I came away with a complete sense of who they are. Alexie doesn't spend a lot of time showing us what a good writer he is. He just writes and we're drawn in to the world. It's a sparse but flavorful place to live.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6) by J.K. Rowling
Adventurous, Graphic, Brilliant
One of the best in the series. Read the others first for the full story. His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amber Spyglass) by Philip Pullman
Dark, Epic, Adventurous
An uneven series but a brilliant idea. And the characters and world that Pullman creates are sensational.Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya
Interesting, Brilliant, Inspiring
Wonderful discussions about life, love, magic, and the power of writing. It's amazing how the book it narrated by a young child and that voice seems authentic while at the same time being profoundly beautiful prose. It's as though he captured the thoughts of a child as they were coming into being and transcribed them in the most beautiful way possible.
