My Reviews
The book was well-written and very engaging. It handles the hard life of people on the outside edges of respectability during the Depression. The "sad" life of our main character weaves back and forth from the circus days to his present existence in a nursing home.
This is the unexplored story of two people who give up conventional family life and live their authentic way to a shocking end.
I didn't sympathize with the main character and didn't understand the purpose of her "travels". The writing seemed disconnected and sometimes ambiguous. I think the author was better suited for separate short stories instead of trying the create the novel.
