My Reviews
This is an inspiring story that details Greg Mortensons amazing experiences building schools in Pakistan. However, I found it extremely difficult to trudge through this book. The writing style made it painful to read... I had to force myself through it!
This could have been a great story if told by a different author.
Quick read.... watching life from a dog's point of view provides a candid, insightful look. I'm not a race car fan, but appreciated the lessons learned through the racing experience. Plot a little too tidy.
I give the book a 6 out of 10.
As so many mothers do, Miriam silently endured and gave every bit of herself for the ones she loved. This moving story will stay with me for a long time.
Tom Franklin's Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter was a great read the first time, but even richer and more provocative the second time around! Tom graced our book club with his presence and shared with us that Larry's story (minus the murder mystery) is quite autobiographical. I was touched to hear him recount episodes of childhood asthma, bullying and social awkwardness. Readers will be glad to know that Tom blossomed into a confident, funny and talented adult! Crooked Letter is a MUST read!
Cutting for Stone is an intimidating length, but worth the time investment. Memorable characters and life lessons about priorities and family are the reward. Graphic medical scenes may be tough for some readers.
An unforgettable look into Starr's world. Captivating, informative and inspiring!
