My Reviews
Most ladies in our club thought that this book was a "hard read" and some didn't finish reading it. It was difficult to get into and wasn't the most interesting book. However, those of us who read it were glad that we did and the book actually made for very good discussion. NOTE: It helped to know ahead of time that the book contains two separate and very distinctly different novels. Not knowing this before reading was a bit confusing to some in our group.
I haven't read much of Grisham over the past several years and guess I was just expecting something quite different. This book really failed to hold my attention because of the lack of relatable characters and dynamic relationships. I finished it only because I kept expecting it to get better, but unfortunately it never did. It was pretty much all about Italian food and football, so if those two things are your cup of tea, then this is the book for you.
This was a pleasant surprise from Patterson. Very easy, quick read that had me smiling all the way through. I was looking for a light love story and it didn't disappoint.
A beautiful story of friendship, prejudice, and the far-reaching impact of one woman's personal investment in others. Challenged me to reach out more, judge less, and trust God with the outcome.
