It was truly fantastic.
This book was beautiful and haunting. I fell in love with the characters and loved how their lives were weaved together. I’m giving it 4 starts because it felt like a very slow burning book and sometimes too dense; but i enjoyed being able to truly savor it and get to know each character since it is a multiple perspective book. Knowing the time period i knew it would be a sad story in one way or another so i did shed a few tears. Strong book to start 2019.
This book was unique in two main areas: The female friendship and a female perspective of women fighting in the second world war. Two areas i have not read about as much or hardly at all.
It left me with a big lump in my throat.
We all love happy endings but there weren’t many of those during that war.
