My Reviews
I found this to be an enjoyable read with a surprising eye-opening ending! The book allowed discussion in various areas: women's issues, infidelity, motherhood, creative process, history of architecture, biographical study of Frank Lloyd Wright, etc. Loved this book! We had a very thought-provoking session at yesterday's meeting.
It was very repetitive and boring to read once you got past the initial understanding of the subject matter. Was informative, but I wonder how much material was fiction.
We weren't sure about an "essay"-type book, but thoroughly enjoyed sharing our favorite ones with each other and talking about our own life experiences once inspired by the reading.
Very boring and not really detailing accounts of actual happenings (concentration camps, etc.)
The book was a beautifully-told story with adventure, romance, humor, tragedy . . . it inspired so much conversation for our meeting!
Had a difficult time getting through this one. Waste of time. Many questions left unanswered. Was book edited poorly? Reading this sure made me long for Lisa See and Amy Tan!!!
The subject matter had such promise, but was very disappointed in the poorly-written end result.
Started off okay, but as book progressed, author seemed to include any/every possible societal stigma resulting in a confusing and far-fetched story.
