My Reviews
Enjoyed parts
The story was well told through the perspective of an elderly man. It captivated me from the first chapter. It brought back memories of the circuses when I was a child.
I really enjoyed this book. It brought back some impressions I had of people raised dirt poor who were shunned because their clothes were hand-me-downs and had little to eat.
The book was written with a lot of humor and some was good and some humor was a little on the corny side. This brings back memories when there actually was a Piggly Wiggly growing up in the 50's. I always thought it was a funny name so now I know it is funny! It appears to me that a sequil could be written.
The book made me want to hold and kiss my husband and to appreciate the times we share together, to appreciate the opportunities we have had to raise our family and to begin our old age together!
I had a hard time in the beginning because I had a hard time keeping up with so many characters. After the first 100 pages I got engrossed in the book and felt more at ease with all the characters. the King's Daughter is a well written book which I enjoyed because it was written in the first person which made it seem more of a true rather than fiction story. Our book club enjoyed talking to the author on the phone and can appreciate all the research she did to make this book believable. Thanks again to Sandra Worth.
