My Reviews
I could not put this book down! There are two stories--one takes place in 1939 & one present day--both tied together. It is heartbreaking & sad to see how families were torn apart, & that cruel heartless people like Georgia Tann were able to get away with what they did for so many years. I loved the strength these children had to survive, & that some were able to find each other again years later. It is a wonderful book & I highly recommend it!!
This beautiful story takes place in the largest municipal waste dump in all of Cambodia. It's about a family that makes their living scavenging recyclables from the trash. Based on a true story, this family has the strength to deal with good & evil, hope, despair, death & so much more. I absolutely loved this book--I couldn't put it down--one of the best books I've ever read & it will always be an absolute favorite!
I very much enjoyed the Alice Network by Kate Quinn, so when I saw that she had written The Huntress, I wanted so much to read it also. It did not disappoint. I had never read a book about Nazi hunters before, so that's another reason this book caught my attention plus it was also about powerful women. One follows the characters as they track down the dangerous Lorelei Vogt for her unspeakable war crimes from Europe to the US, where she has made her way into a family by falsifying her identity. One of the trackers is Nina, a Russian bomber pilot who belonged to the female squadron known as the Night Witches. She has a fascinating story to tell. This is an inspiring novel of historical fiction about strong courageous women that you are sure to enjoy.
