My Reviews
Just finished this amazing book. Highly recommended. A remarkable (in every sense of the word) story of love, faith and strength. Set in Italy, prior to and during WWII, she is a Jewish violinist full of life and he is a Priest with a golden heart. Love, faith and strength repeat themselves throughout the story; with family, with lovers, with strangers and with God. How did the darkest of times of our world’s history come to be? Little by little. How did life preserver? Little by little. God is quite, but miracles still do happen. I cried, laughed and enjoyed every page.
Just finished my latest novel. My book club picked this book. It’s not one that I would have picked myself, but I still enjoyed it. Set in the marshes of North Carolina in 1950s-1970+. It was an interesting story of life’s hardships, the human condition (good, bad and ugly) and appreciating and truly viewing the beauties of nature, then relating the natural world to our human one.
Just finished my latest novel. This one was interesting... I’m not usually one to take the bait of the book world buzz. But this newly published book (which they are discussing turning into a film) caught my attention being of a similar “type” of book I enjoy- Historical fiction. It was a comprehensive ghost story of lives intertwining through time, spanning the centuries between mid-1800s and modern day England. I found this book to be frustrating at times, because it felt as if I was building a jigsaw puzzle of a story and mystery characters, as I was reading it- unclear until the end. But it is also a story I’ll probably think about for a bit.
Ok ladies, if you want a quick dirty read filled with revenge, scandal and holding no punches, than this is your book! The main character describes herself as a psychopath, and I found myself really liking her. There were many ???? (gasp) moments and ???? (haha) moments. But be warned, as much as I did like it, you have to be open minded to read it! Lol!
Simply, wow.
A book that I felt I could’ve stayed in... I didn’t want it to finish, but at the same time a novel that I felt like I couldn’t get enough of. Beautifully written, full of surprises, love, history and adventure. A truly lovely story that emphasizes family and love above everything; intertwining perspectives, narrators, and poetry through time. It taught me so much about Ireland’s history, while also making me realize how little I knew about their revolution in the early 1900’s.
My latest novel, Calling Me Home, straddled 1937-1950 Kentucky and a modern day Texas to Ohio road trip. A story of true love, complete loss, repeated heartbreak and perseverance. Life can be messy, life can be unfair and our lives can deeply touch the lives of others. It makes us look at our own lives and prejudices and reflect. It makes us realize that we should never judge â??a book by itâ??s coverâ?, and that someoneâ??s story should never be taken at face value.
