My Reviews
This is another corker from Clare, with an incredible twist - you know it’s coming but you’re never sure of what the twist is, and when it happens you’re not disappointed.
Clare rounds off this story much better than her previous novels, leaving you satisfied with the outcome. It’s a page turner.
This book educates you cleverly on the horrors of the concentration camps and the roles that the prisoners were made to play in order to survive the living hell.
The tattooist was clever, a survivor, with empathy and love of the human spirit. You route for him at every stage. The romance in it was beautiful. Even more amazing was how I didn’t realise it was a true story until reading the epilogue. I cried twice. Once during the book and then when realising it was real. Such a powerful piece of literature.
Oh my how brilliantly funny is this damaged, screwy Eleanor! She slowly reveals herself to us, and her screwed up life. You hate her for much of the book but gradually you realise how damaged she is and by half way through you’re rooting for her. Has an amazing twist - you k ow it’s coming but it was brilliantly revealed.
This book takes you into the dark, spy, black market world and leaves you wondering how it all stays so hushed.
Unrealistic feeling towards the end, but never the less a page turner.
This books chapters are like episodes of a fast paced, addictive tv drama series. You feel the need to read other stuff in between as so much happens you need to reflect. But the process of reading it takes you on the writes self development ... you learn with him the beauty of life even in the darkest of places. It’s amazing that this is autobiographical.
