A surprising book in that I knew nothing about this terrible case that actually spawned the creation of modern occupational medicine. It’s an important story that is well told. You get to know the radium girls and you are moved by their struggle for justice.

I had no idea about Hedy’s life. What an interesting person. We usually think of Hollywood stars as one dimensional shallow glamour girls. Hedy was an incredibly bright self taught inventor who laid the foundation for a number of important scientific advances. A fun, informative read.
