My Reviews
Gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson
Dramatic, Fun, Dark
We selected this as an example of Southern fiction - but in retrospect we believe there were many other "Southern" books which would have been preferrable to this. Not worth reading. Writing is not particularly good; plot is not very well developed; resolution of the mystery is improbable. The book club felt this was not worth their time.
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Epic, Dramatic, Adventurous
A marvelous look into the Middle Ages - a page turnerWe all loved this book. While the writing is simple, the story lines are compelling and the characters memorable. A great read and insight into an historic time. Not for those who wait until the last minute to read the book - it is almost 1,000 pages.
The Memory of Running by Ron McLarty
Adventurous, Dramatic, Beautiful
Incredible characters - a beautiful story - and adventure any of us might want to take. This is a powerful story with excellent character development. A powerful read.
