My Reviews
Unlike any other book I’ve read. Interesting to hear from different characters viewpoints. Unpredictable.
Good start and ending, a bit boring in the middle. Unpredictable but I didn’t love the ending.
Good story line. I felt there were too many characters though so confusing at times.
Interesting storyline. I liked the psychological twists, but didn’t love the wrap up.
It was written in a stereotypical format especially Dr Shields monologue. It was all a bit cliche for me. Unbelievable and unrealistic. 1.5 stars from me.
The second of McTiernan’s novels seems not to reach the anticipation left by her first book. A storyline to keep you somewhat engaged but fails to inspire.
First off, I found the author not utilising quotation marks annoying. At times I had to reread parts so that I knew who was speaking. I liked how the author delved isn¢??t how identity can change from high school and into adulthood. Identity was actually a large theme of the book overall with Marianne very much an individual not relying on others perception of her whilst Connell is the opposite. Marianne deals with her own trauma history and Connell with mental illness. I would¢??ve liked a more conclusive ending.
Slow to start but once I got into it I found the story to be interesting particularly looking from different perspectives of both the twins and their daughters who led different lives. A good story that highlighted the differences of growing up black and white.
