My Reviews
I would recommend this book for any book club. There is so much to discuss. How would you feel if you were one of the women and how would you feel if you came face to face with
one of the women. An excellent book with a lot of issues.
At first I didn't understand the book. I thought it was weird.
Once I realized that death was telling the story, I was hooked.
It was so amazing to follow this young German girl through the war. She learned to love her foster family and the Jew they hid in the basement. She also learned the power of words and the effect they have on our lives. You will laugh, feel sad and finally understand another view point of Hitler. The first time I have read a book from this view point.
A man deals with the terrible death of his young daughter. She is kidnapped from a special vacation he has taken with his children. He blames himself and God for her loss. God comes
to him to explain human relationships and our relationship with
God..the three in one.
This is a simple book that helps us remember how important God
is in our lives.
I started reading this book based on how much I enjoyed her
other book "Water for Elephants". At first, I didn't think
I would enjoy a story about the horse world but as I read I was
drawn in by the relationships. The drama of raising a teenage
daughter while dealing with your father dying, a divorce, and nearly loosing your riding stables kept you reading right to
the end of the book. When I finished, I was lucky enough to
have the sequel.."Flying Changes".. and continued reading
about this remarkable lady and her trials.
This book is different from her other book, but I liked it
better. I related to main character and understood what she
was going through.
The story is a mystery of a young girl drowning, but along
the way we discover there are other unresolved mysteries that need to be explored. I love the way Joshilyn Jackson writes
her stories. You are drawn in and you can't figure out where
she is leading you. The endings are always a surprise and you
wonder why you didn't see it coming.
This book would only be of interest to book clubs in Mississippi since it deals with MS politics. I enjoyed parts of it and since
it is still going on I am familiar with the characters. You can't open a newspaper in MS without reading more of the scandal and the continuing trials.
