My Reviews
From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz
compelling writing style that seems to taper off and get sloppy at the end of the book
Koontz's gripping storytelling ability makes the first 3/4 of this book soar. In contrast, the last part of the book becomes a repetative, oversimplified mantra of his book's theme of parallel worlds.
Double Whammy by Carl Hiaasen
environmental/philosophical couched in humor
Because it is a humorous book, my first instinct was to not take it seriously, or to assume it was not worth discussing as a book-club book. I later decided that was an odd bias- it raises many of the same issues found in more serious books, but had the bonus of being SO much fun to read.
