My Reviews
Wally Lamb gets his characters right; unique, realistic. The story is of two twin brothers and how one struggles with the other's mental illness. The book also takes you back in time and simultaneously tells the story of their grandparents...
This story will keep you intrigued from beginning to end. You will find it difficult to put down.
In the end, the story somehow resonates with you for a long time.
I have included this in my best books ever read category.
Hosseini writing is beautiful. He some how has you emotionally connected to each character. At times you want to yell out loud or sob in your pillow.
It is not a light hearted, warm story. Yet, it will leave you educated -tenfold- in human relationships.
You also learn brutal facts about Afghanistan.
I highly recommend this book.
Not a book I would re-read but a good summer book.
I felt the author did not give enough depth into the husband's character. Sometimes the story line was cut short.
The care taker and the child's relationship is real and compelling.
It is a good book.
I really enjoyed this book. A great love story told by an aging man in a nursing home. Its about his adventures as a vet in the circus.
I learned we should have more conversations wiht elderly people, they have great stories to share and treat them as if they are still 18.
The story of 2 brothers; good vs. evil.
The story is very complex and in the beginning will drag with detail BUT WAIT! It picks up a great pace, it all comes together, and you are glad you read such a fascinating story.
good, easy read. You will fall in love with Winnalee
