My Reviews
I gave out my 10 copies to the Afternoons with Books reading group. Actually at least 13 folks read the shared books. Every member thought the book addressed a part of history that is not often discussed. The style of writing is interesting and easy to read. The story lent itself to discussion. I even plan to visit the Panama Hotel when I visit my daughter in Seattle. This is possible for most of our members since we all live in San Francisco. I hope the author writes about his great great grandfather soon.
My Afternoon with Books chose to read this book last month. We hoped to have the author as our guest as he put much of his background into the book. He writes excellent descriptions about the location of each event. The story was unusual and seemed a little farfetched. I wished for a little more background on his characters. I enjoyed the medical aspects of the book.
