My Reviews
I thought this was a very good book. Barbara Delinsky is a great writer. She took several everyday situations and made you really think about how you would react to the different scenarios. Great book for discussions from everything to marriage to raising children. I enjoyed her writing (yet again).
This book kept me reading, as there were many unexpected events. I read every spare minute I had. By telling the story from the different character's points of view, Katrina Kittle kept my interest at all times. Though the topic is not pleasant, it kept me thinking for days after I read it. The characters felt real and the author did a great job of helping us think and feel what the characters were going through.
Our book club had many interesting discussions in regard to this book.
I will start off by saying that I am a James Patterson fan. However, this was not my kind of book. It was well written, but the storyline wasn't what I expected. It was a quick read and had a nice ending. I wasn't thinking that the imaginary friend would turn "human"...but that she met someone with the looks and qualities of the imaginary friend. Just not my cup of tea so to speak.
The book was enjoyable to read. Very well written. Many life-like situations...3 friends...1 is pregnant, 1 doesn't want to be pregnant, 1 is trying. Very funny at times. Easy to read.
This book was really enjoyed by everyone in our book club. Very interesting details. I wasn't sure we were going to like it, but it turned out to be a favorite! Led to many discussions. Upon our group first choosing the book, and reading that it was about a boy and a circus, I couldn't imagine where it was taking me. Well, surprise to me. I learned things as well as was captivated with the ending. It was very well written.
This was just not my kind of book. I actually had trouble pushing myself to get through it. I know others think it is one of the best books they ever read...this reader doesn't agree.
I actually only chose 1 star... I don't know why it showed up as 3.
This was definitely NOT my kind of book. I have to admit, I purchased this because I thought the previews of the movie looked okay. WRONG. I kept thinking the story would pick up...at page 274 I was doubting that it ever would...at that point I just wanted to finish. I figured I spent too much time getting to that point, and just wanted it to end.
I absolutely could not put this book down. Took me through all kinds of emotions and memories of my own. The friendship bond was entirely believable...the happy times, the struggles, the jealousy. Kristin Hannah's writing in this book was amazing...from beginning to end.
This book was good, a little slow at first, but then it picked up. The characters were believable. The bond that the knitting club members formed was inspiring.
This was a great book. Though depressing at times, I didn't have much knowledge on the subject, I couldn't put this book down. The struggles that Sarah went through as such a small child were incredible (loss of mother, father, brother), along with her drive to live, were simply amazing.
Nineteen Minutes is by far one of my favorite Picoult books. The subject matter can be quite upsetting, however, it took me through the minds of "the cool chick", "the geek" and some adults and the devestating tragedy they all must deal with. Wonderfully written.
