My Reviews
The opening of the book was captivating, but it was somewhat confusing jumping from present to past and back again without clear delineation of times. I found myself not very interested in the main characters and would have liked to read more about peripheral characters. The end of the book was not very satisfying or surprising.
I kept hoping the main character,Amir, would finally do something to redeem himself. The only time time Amir did anything throughout the entire book, was when it benefitted himself.
The book did let the reader view Afghanistan before the Taliban and 9/11. That makes reading the book of some value.
There are strong graphic images that may be hard for some people to read.
A humorous look at Christmas and all the trimmings that come with the holiday. I thought the book wrapped up too quickly without taking care of loose ends.
Very cerebral reading. There is a message, but you must drag yourself through the book to get it.
Explores the ins and outs of many aspects of Harper Lee. I found the relationship between Harper Lee and Truman Capote, as detailed in this book, a very compleeling read.
While I found this book interesting, it was not as riveting for me as Kite Runner.
Did not like the way the author went back and forth in time. The story could have been told in a MUCH more condensed version.
