My Reviews
I really couldn’t get into this book. It was hard for me to read.
Well the author did a great job because I felt so much anger towards Amber and almost stopped reading the book because I was so annoyed. But the second half was worth it.
This was a tough book due to the amount of loss, but it was so good at the same time. I loved the characters and the relationships. It definitely kept my attention and I couldn’t put it down.
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! I actually read it twice. The author did a beautiful job showing the impact of trauma, unintended consequences of war, and impact to families. I had no idea of the role women played in the war and what they faced upon their return. I loved the realism, yet fiction of the book. Because of this book I picked up several other books by this author and loved them all so far.
I enjoyed reading about each celebrity and learning a little more than what you saw/heard in the media. I am an Elvis fan so that was definitely my favorite part. The writing was a little slow to read.
I did not like the book at all. There were too many characters and too much background given on no -essential characters. It was a tough read for me.
I probably would have never picked this book for myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a fantastic take on how choices shape our lives, as well as one’s perspective.
It was an awesome read! The right amount of scary, sex, love, family, and strength! I particularly loved how the author had Morgan save herself, rather than her fiancé come in and save the day! If you love both thrillers and romance then this is the book for you.
It was an interesting perspective of the war and the role women played. The sacrifices women had to make. I am a fan of Kristin Hannah’s writing style! One of my favorite statements in the book was “wounds heal. Love lasts. We remain.”
I couldn’t put this book down. I wanted to know what happened next! I enjoyed the characters and the strength Lily developed. Domestic violence and emotional abuse is real and happens suddenly. I think the author did a great job. The movie, however, was extremely disappointing.
It was a little slow moving at first, but turned out to be a good book. I enjoyed the characters and the relationships they built. I loved the statement about life being joy peppered by loss and why you get a dog and another one. “Madness repeating itself just to get another taste of joy.”
It was slow, predictable, and a bit repetitive. I never really got into the book or the characters.
