My Reviews
Everyone in the First Wednesday Book Discussion Group at the Callaway County Public Library agreed that "The Hummingbird's Daughter" did a wonderful job of taking us into a time, a place, and a culture that was altogether new territory for us. One member raved that she could not put the book down and said she considered it a 'keeper' that she would read again and again. She especially loved the author's ability to make each character into a 'real person.' She said the characterizations were always right on target. This member is not one of our faster readers and has often had problems in the past in getting into the discussion book. Her enthusiasm was a pleasant surprise to some of the other members.
"Hummingbird's Daughter" did inspire spirited discussion abong the dozen members of our group. We range from age 25 through 65 and cover every educational background. Everyone who read the book had something to add to the discussion. That's what we look for in a book discussion - not just I liked it or I didn't like it...

Everyone in my group seemed to enjoy "One for the Money." Several were already Stephanie Plum fans and read each new novel as soon as it comes out. But when we tried to discuss it, no one had much to say. After the first few minutes we drifted into an animated discussion of last month's book, Rocket Boys, by Homer Hickam.
