Very interesting character study!
This is one of our groups favorite books. Led to a very interesting discussion....wish we could find more of this caliber!
Although our book club had a good discussion about this book I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
I found Lily's character under developed and lacking depth. She is a self-absorbed, needy woman who seems disinterested in her children, unhappy in her marriage and as far as her travels are concerned she seems to be looking for what she evidently finds missing in her personal life.
Thankfully I did not buy this book!
I found this book daunting at first, as did several other members of our book club. However, we perservered and ended up truly enjoying the story.
Very good discussion on many levels.....mostly concerning the role, or lack of any role, of women in medieval England!
I definitely recommend this book!
Not one member disliked this book...we all loved it. I highly recommend this to other groups as it invites a great discussion. The style of this book really keeps you reading! Found it difficult to put down.....sure sign of a great book in my opinion!
Read it and love it!
This book left too many unanswered questions! None of the confusion about what happened was ever wrapped up....we were left dangling with no answers!
I would NOT recommend this book to anyone....no one in our book group enjoyed this book!
BIG disappointment!
did not like this at all! Read 26 pages and decided there had to be better books so why waste my time??!!
While Dewey's story is interesting, and at times sweet, this book was repetitive and quite boring in places. I wouldn't recommend! Definitely a 'FLUFF' book!! And I'm not referring to the cat!
I did enjoy this book ... but didn't feel the characters were fully formed. I wanted to know more about each woman because I was never certain who I was reading about....that was frustrating.
Poor character development in my opinion....although a good story with lots of history.
This author is obviously obsessed with sex! The characters are not likable, the monotonous chapters of sex are tiring and the plot became rather predictable.
I couldn't find one reason to like this book or recommend it to anyone and will be selling my copy ASAP!
I really tried to like this book. However the main character, Flavia, while likable, was not believable.
Overall not a good read and I won't read any of the sequels!
Loved this book. Hard to put down. I didn't want it to end.
And therefore only read the first two 'stories'.......if a character is that obnoxious why waste my time?
A few questions were left unanswered and that made for a poor ending. But, overall, our book club liked this book.
enjoyed this book!
I wanted to learn more about these people Carol wrote about so it wasn't a satisfying read for me.
AND very little to discuss......when facts are facts what can you discuss? This is why I am not a fan of non-fiction books for book clubs.
