My Reviews
Our group loved this book, and not just because of the martini recipes. It was laugh-out-loud funny, but also so touching, as we were taken along for this transformational ride. And, best of all, you can contact Doreen through her website and she'll call into your discussion by speakerphone. What a treat!
Our club, like so many others, loved this book. The characters stay with you and the world it creates is unlike others you'll read about. Good discussion, too.
Our club read The Kite Runner, now this. We loved them both. Difficult subject matter, but both books gave us glimpses of worlds we would normally never see.
Our club loved this book, then we got together on another night and rented the movie. It's a wonderful story, well-written and made for a good discussion.
Our club is a sucker for travel memoirs and this one fit the bill. As someone else commented, don't know how we missed it! It was also fun talking about what it would be like to do what the author did. Maybe someday...
Our group loves books that take us into different worlds and this was certainly one of the best.
Wonderful discussion book, about assumptoins of class, poverty, etc. But, the book isn't really as heavy as I'm making it out to be. Parts very funny. The "tragi-comic" in the description says it best.
