Adventurous, Optimistic, Inspiring
Easy Read, But Lacking Depth

We all enjoyed this one and would recommend it to our daughters/younger sisters, but there wasn't a whole lot to discuss.

Have a Female David Sedaris Over to Your Book Group!

Not much to add to what the other clubs said. We obviously enjoyed this one. We particularly appreciated the author's making fun of everything and everyone - especially herself, but she somehow manages to do it without being mean-spirited. We're all also in love with her husband. Great discussion as others have said about priorities in life, not letting fears get in the way of pursuing dreams. Also got us thinking about how to get the spark back and challenging ourselves, especially as we get more settled in life. This one can be read just for fun, or deeper meaning.

Great Book and Discussion

Interesting depiction of an atypical childhood filled with and dedicated to the love of the mother. We adored this one. The writing is wonderful, and we had a lovely discussion about what it takes to survive and the power of love.

Boring, Inspiring, Slow
Mixed Reviews From Our Club

Some loved this, some hated it and singled out the author's "narcissism." Personally, I think all memoirs are by definition that, so it didn't bother me. Not a whole lot to discuss, though.

Pride & Predjudice by Jane Austen

Classic. Who's Your Favorite Darcy?

Most of us had read this years ago and it was a pleasure to reread. We mainly discussed the various movies and who are favorite Darcy was, as well as how roles have changed for women.
