My Reviews
I did not care for this book. I am interested in other cultures and when this book was chosen for my club, I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn about a culture we hear so much about these days. I was so bored after just a few pages I was hard pressed to finish it. THere was too much detail in many areas that were unnecessary and not enough when you wanted more. It felt very staged and did not flow well and instead of leaving thoughtful questions in my mind, I found myself questioning my own motivation for continueing to read this. It took me 6 weeks to finish when it would normally take me a week. Many people rave about this but I did not find it quite so compelling.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There was some depictions that were hard to read but mostly, it was very thought provoking. A twist of an ending that left my book club chatting away trying to figure out just exactly what it meant!
I am touched each time I read this. One of the most truly loving stories of our current time, stretching through to grab readers of any age.
I'm not much for a story with animals but this was great! With a sudden twist at the end that you never see coming, I read this within just a few days. Wonderful characters that your heart tugs for. A sweet story of love and faithfulness.
I tried to read this book a few years ago but put it down after a few pages. Upon having it as a chosen book for our book club, I was forced to forge ahead and am so glad I did. It was a wonderful story that had me rooting for the characters and sharing their pain along the way.
One of the most amazing books I have ever read. It was well written with emotion and relation that is rarely found in our time.
This is probably one of the worst books I have ever read. I never would have picked it up to begin with but felt I had to finish it b/c we were reading it for our book club. I was exhausted by the sheet stupidity of people by the time I was finished.
This story felt unrealistic to me. The character of Owen Meany would never be treated in the real world as he was in the story. I finished the book only because it was for bookclub.
This book was gripping! Though it was a simple story I felt heartsick through it all (but in a good way due to excellent writing). With twists and turns at the very end I was amazed that it was not a true story and in awe of the writer and how she was able to connect with her reader. Absolutely fantastic and highly recommended!
I loved this book! The adventure was well crafted by the author and the connection with the reader was fantastic as well. I was left wanting more and wishing that it wasn't a true story because I would have liked a sequel.
Inspirational to women everywhere to find something that they are passionate about and stick to their guns.
