My Reviews

Edges: O Israel, O Palestine by Leora Skolkin-Smith

Beautiful, Interesting, Poorly Written
Deep and complex

The previous review is very off the mark. This novel is anything BUT shallow and it is never cheap, but brave and uniquely told. Nor does it settle for the sentimentality that often passes for character motivation. For those who prefer literary and poetic novels with depth and precision this is a book to savor and cherish.

Dramatic, Dark, Insightful
powerful and brilliant

Powerful, an amazing novel.

Insightful, Interesting, Dramatic
Human and complex

I really thought this was a significant novel, about outsider-ness, told with a kind of seamless nautralness which marks Ms. Tyler's writing as so fine.

Girls in Trouble: A Novel by Caroline Leavitt

This book really touched me

Caroline Leavitt has written eight beautiful novels. This is among her best. A story simply told, deeply felt, I was completely absorbed. I want her recognition to spread because there is something so lovely about her work, so rare... it often deals with the rawest human emotions and situations, but people triumph because they face some haunting human flaw. Just beautiful. highly recommended.
