All The little Live Things

This is a very poignant story. Lots of dry wit humor on the part of main character but also a sadness about him. The neighborhood characters are delightful and eccentric, sad, rebellious. Stegner does a masterful job with his descriptions and anticdotes throughout. Highly recommend reading, especially if you're in the generation who grew up in the 60's, 70's.

Delightful!

This book is one of the very few books that I've read two times in a row. It's the most delightful story with wonderful characters and such humor, that I was like the main character and ready to get on a boat and go visit Guernsey. Even my husband loved it!

Hard to get through.

I felt like the other reveiwers, in that it was missing something. It was interesting reading about the animals and it did peak my interest in learning a little more of the Warsaw Zoo during the occupation, but the story was difficult to follow.

"What a thrilling ride"

This is an action packed, gasping read! Gary Paulsen's writing took me right to Alaska and along for the ride of a lifetime. Have a whole different perspective of the Iditarod race. I don't know how he managed to live through this ordeal once, let alone 3 times. Great read!

What an adventure!

I loved this book, never read Time Travelers Wife but will now for sure. Audrey is a delightful writer and an unbelievable imagination. I felt like I needed to "hang on" in this book because I was "going for a ride". I did guess the last "twist" but was surprised by others.

Beneath a Marble Sky

Although I knew nothing about the Taj Mahal to start with, I will admit that this peaked my interest in finding out more. It just seemed to be written more like a "dime store" romance than historical fiction. Very dramatic and unconvincing facts...

The Guernsey Literary & Potatoe Peel Pie Society

This is the best book I've read all season! I've read it 3 times in a row (and I NEVER do that!) I just loved the characters as well as peaked my curiosity abut Isle of Guernsey...our book club all were ready to sign up for a flight to Guernsey. Delightful read...

The Commoner

This is our book clubs last read, we meet this coming monday so will add to this after discussion. .Personally, I love the book and went on to investigate further the real story of Empress Michiko. There is a very real believability to this novel and the writing is superb. The Japanese culture of Royalty is so tightly protected that it is very hard to tell what truly goes on inside the palace walls, but the empress has spoken up a few times explaining somewhat, what it has been like to be a commoner and giving up a normal life for that of iconic royalty.

Superb read! Couldn\\\'t put it down. Emotional, exciting, insightful. The range of emotions this novel creates is amazing. The introduction of characters and their lives were very descriptive yet you wanted more. I was sad when it ended as I wasn\\\'t ready to quit reading.
