My Reviews
I liked the book and especially the weekend spent at the shack .. However, I did not like the way it ended although I would recommend it as a good read and plenty of food for discussion.
I was hesitant to read a book with a Circus background .. not sure I would face cruelty to animals or what type of people I would find in the pages. I ended up loving this peak into life in the Circus World .. mush to learn and to discuss with others later!
I can't say I would recommend this book however there was much in the day to day lives and the differences between Indian tribes that I found interesting. Good book for discussion ... didn't "love" it.
I loved this book .. what an amazing and yet at times cruel depiction of the treatment of some women in the middle east .. and the spirit that makes them strong women. A great read!
I could not put this book down. What young women no all women endured in nineteenth century China from an early age was unfathomable and yet it was a natural part of the culture. A must read for especially all young women.
If you want to read an uplifting or inspirational book The Language of Flowers isn't for you. It was hopeful in places just to be more than disturbing esp. when a newborn is left alone overnight .. I felt more than anxious. I found nothing redeeming about the main character.
I never understood why I didn't "love" this book as it's been a best seller for so long but I didn't. I found nothing redemable about the main charactor or his family and how he lived his young life.
I loved this small book ... I learned so much about the Orphan Trains of the early 1900\'s something that I knew nothing about ... I loved the story lines of the two main charactors and redemption. Couldn\'t put it down.
I always hope to learn something new or at least be pulled in by a charactor or plot in any book. The Boston Girl does that for a little while and then just goes flat. I read it wouldn\\\'t say exactly don\\\'t read it but other books have a point .. I\\\'m not sure this one does.
The title caught my attention as did the synopsis of a widow and widower neighbors getting to know one another. Being a senior I looked forward to their journey together .. other than the heartwarming visit from the widow\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s grandson the book is as one might expect ...because of family demands both charactters were left even lonlier. I couldn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t recommend this book to anyone.
